NFL Live on Five! Back for 2009

Sometimes, life can take you by surprise. It took me months to recover from the shock off Michael Bolton cutting off his remarkable mane. I’ll also never forget the moment when I thought : Damn, Joey Harrington can be a starter in the NFL! That lasted for precisely 14 seconds, obviously.

But NFL UK’s announcement that FIVE will be broadcasting Sunday Night Football live – with yours truly and Il Migglior Fabbro Mike Carlson – seemed to catch much of Britain’s NFL community off guard, judging by the message boards and forums of various sites. It’s obviously terrific news, and getting the deal done was principally down to Alistair Kirkwood and his cavalry – another feather in the cap for their continued development of the league over here.

I guess that I should also technically refer to Carlson as Michael, not Mike, as that’s what they call him on Radio 4, or the World Service, whenever he’s on, and this blog is clearly highbrow in tonality, after all. Speaking of highbrow, here’s a snap of me and the big fella in New Orleans. As the bard once said : “You can’t buy class”. On reflection, maybe it was Paul Calf.
